The Ice House Cottage
The Ice House Cottage, like the rest of Blantyre, is known for being beautiful and personal. Fully renovated in 2001, the two-bedroom cottage is grand and yet intimate. Retaining both its name and some of its marble walls from the original structure, the Ice House’s interiors and carefully chosen furnishings reflect Blantyre’s commitment to your comfort.
While it is no easy task to give you the special feeling of the Ice House Cottage, what follows may help. In the generously sized living room upstairs, there is a mahogany dining table along with intricately carved and cushioned 19th century American chairs well suited to private candlelit dinners – with delicious food and fine wine graciously provided by Blantyre, if you like. A window seat, piled high with pillows, is the perfect place to curl up and catch up on your reading or watch a stunning sunset or sunrise. The screened porch is a perfectly private place to share drinks and laughter with friends.
Weather permitting, you can fling open the bedroom’s French doors, step out onto your private deck as soon as you wake up. Or take a short walk to one of our Har-Tru tennis courts. In the sumptuous marbled bathroom, you can refresh after a game on our courts, whether tennis or croquet. Perhaps request a massage in your room. Unwind with a long bath in the soaking tub or be reinvigorated in our spacious walk-in shower.
Downstairs Alexander’s Room – named after Ann’s son whose only request was the huge TV with VCR/DVD and James Bond movies – includes a bedroom with a king-sized bed, shower, and a shaded outdoor patio edged in boxwood.
Throughout the Ice House Cottage, tones of cream, blue, peach and rose.
